Rednecks and Hot Air Balloons

It's Alabama Jubilee time, folks. For you native Decaturites, you know that Memorial Day weekend means funnel cakes, rednecks, and hot air balloons. We went to Pointe Mallard for the balloon glow on Saturday and actually had lots of fun. Well, Ella, Addison and I had fun; poor Eric suffered from horrible allergies all evening even after taking lots of allergy medication. He still soldiered on and we got to go inside a blown up balloon (the balloon, not the basket - very cool), Ella took her first pony ride, which she loved, and Addison became a one-baby welcoming committee to anyone stepping within fifteen feet of our blanket (hilarious). The navy blue one below was the was we went in - can you see the people going in and out? Someone got proposed to in there. Sweet.

We finally met up with Kellie, Bob and Landon and played for a while. At dusk, and 30 minutes after, we heard (too many times) the announcer/M.C. Guy's amplified screams for the balloon pilots to light up the balloons all at the same time. If you've been before, you know the shout of "1...2...3...GLOW!"

After getting no successful pictures of that action, we packed up the wagon and trekked back to the car. All in all, a fun time was had by all and anytime spent outdoors is better than time in.....but poor Eric is still sneezing.

I'm jealous! We missed it this year. I hope all that allergy medicine was from cvs (as in free!)

p.s. why do they spell it pointe? Come on, people, this is Decatur, AL and we're not fooling anyone by spelling it the fancy way.

Hope ya'll had a good anniversary!
